Wyland, Llywelyn’s Pub, March 12, 2017

So my 30th birthday was this past Sunday, March 12. Through the crazy timing of fate, one of my favorite bands happened to be coming through Kansas City on that exact date, so that’s how I celebrated! We set up a birthday party and show at Llywelyn’s Pub in Overland Park, KS, and with Wyland playing, it was amazing!

New Beginnings

So, I’ve decided to step into a new arena within the photography realm: pet photography. The first pictures I took with my camera were of my pets. I just love the little buggers so much! Truthfully, I love animals tremendously. Ask any of my family or friends about me, and it’ll be guaranteed to come up. So to get back into photography more, I’m going to refocus and look to the animals I love, through a lens. My first order of business was to volunteer to help a local pet rescue by taking pictures of their adoptable pets for their website. I’ve read many articles that discuss the important role a good picture can play in the adoption of an animal, so I am volunteering my time and camera this Saturday to New Beginnings Dog Rescue. They’ll be having an adoption event at the Olathe Petsmart at 119th and Strang Line, so stop by, say hi, and maybe go home with a new family member!

10 Things I’ve Learned As A Concert Photographer So Far

So, hello again! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted anything. Since my last photography session, I’ve started a car lot, sold my house, moved, supported my husband through a stressful promotion, and taken a week-long vacation. Phew! I wanted to jump back into my blog, though, and start getting active again, so I wanted to share what I’ve learned so far. Continue reading

I know what you did last concert! Featuring: Kangaroo Knife Fight

I’m so excited to be able to present the first post in my new “day in the life” style series titled I know what you did last concert! (hubby suggested it as a joke, and I just loved it!). This series will aim to follow various bands on a concert day to give some insight into what it’s like to be a performing band behind-the-scenes. So now that you have the basics of the series, let me introduce the first band! Continue reading

Kongos & Kangaroo Knife Fight, Kansas City Power & Light, 6/26/2015

I’m so excited to have finally shot a concert with my Canon! This concert was a lot of firsts for me: first press pass, first time backstage, first concert shot with my camera, first time I worked directly with a band, and first for the series shoot I really wanted to try! Overall, it was a wonderful experience. 🙂 This concert was with Kongos and Kangaroo Knife Fight at the Kansas City Power & Light District. Continue reading

The Vampire Diaries Convention, Houston, March 23-25, 2015

So, I’m finally getting around to editing some pictures I took of the Vampire Diaries Convention back in March. It was located in Houston, TX at the Hilton, and it was quite fun! I got to actually meet one of my heroes, Ian Somerhalder!! I also met Steven Krueger, Sebastian Roche, Matt Davis, and Paul Wesley! Chase Coleman and Micah Parker were also in close proximity several times! On top of that, I even got a picture with Ian and Paul together! It was definitely a fun weekend. 🙂 Continue reading

Borns & Handsome Ghost, recordBar, 3/7/2015

My second concert of the 2015 season was Borns and Handsome Ghost at the recordBar on March 7. Misterwives was supposed to headline, but was unable to attend due to illness. As usual, I listened to both bands before the concert. I’d heard one Borns song before, but Handsome Ghost was new to me. Through that, I fell in love with Handsome Ghost! Their sound is beautiful, and I just adore them. Borns has great music, too, and they’re fun to watch live. Continue reading

Night Riots & Draemings, recordBar, 3/2/2015

To kickstart my 2015 concert season, I went to a free show at the recordBar to see Draemings and Night Riots on March 20. I almost missed this concert, but I am so glad I didn’t! This was the concert that led me to photography, and is one of my favorite ones! This was also my first time at recordBar, and the first show I went to alone (a lot of firsts with this one!). The Night the Buzz Stole Xmas Night 2, The Midland, 12/20/2014

My second concert to post about is The Night the Buzz Stole Xmas Night 2. It occurred on December 20, 2014 at The Midland Theater. This show included: Glass Animals, Bleachers, Banks, Misterwives, and The Outsides (a Kansas City homegrown artist!). This was one of the most amazing concerts I’ve been to! It was so full of energy and fun, and I would see most of these bands every time they come to town! While not all of the bands were my cup of tea, the entire show was still a blast. Continue reading
